Highlights of the 2010 Planning Meeting

A hardy thank you to all those who attended the planning meeting last Saturday night. We had about 65 members there and the mood was upbeat about the 2010 year to come.

It was great to meet our newest members, and also to see some folks who had heard about us and wanted to see what we were all about.  Dave and Alice Shelby who are newly married and just moved to the Republic area from Kansas City came to see what we might have to offer as a car club and it’s my pleasure to announce that they have joined the club!

We talked a bit of business prior to starting the planning. There will be a special club meeting on June 5th to discuss several topics which we need to address. Reliable Chevrolet will be donating $2400.00 to our club this year but has stipulated that the funds need to be spent for the enjoyment of club members.  We need to think about how we are going to spend these extra club funds which we will have available to us this year.

As we are thinking now we will have about $3000.00 which we want to spend for the enjoyment of the club members. These funds are above our usual expenses and minimum balance we keep in the checkbook. There are many ways in which we can do this, we could have a club picnic, we could have the club pay for some of the expenses for the meetings that are club functions thus lowering the cost to the members.

These are only two ideas that have been mentioned to me, but there are many more we can come up with. So put on your thinking caps and let’s see just what fun we can plan. If you have an idea, please put it on paper, and also include the approximate cost of your idea, and bring it with you to the meeting in June.

Also we will be reviewing the Club By-laws to see if we need to update them. We have formed a committee headed by Dean Kroencke along with six club members to review the by-laws and any suggestions that you the club members might propose. Please go to the VVO website and review the by-laws and send any suggestions to Dean for the committee to review. The committee will make suggestions to the members for discussion and vote at the June meeting.

Our planning portion of the meeting was great. There are new changes for this year.

First, our third Wednesday dinner will change locations starting in February. We will be moving from the Texas Road House to Cartoon’s bar and grille located on Glenstone St. I will send more info about this as we get closer.

Our Friday night Show-n-Shine dinners are going to move from McAllister’s in Nixa to the Battlefield Marketplace at 900 E. Battlefield. This will allow us much more selection for restaurants and also better visibility to more traffic along Battlefield Avenue. The Friday night dinners will start the first Friday in March and continue through October.

We have all our monthly mystery dinners booked for the year, and also several new and exciting trips for this year are in the planning.

Judy is putting the Calendar together and will be sending it to Anny for posting on the web site, and we are also putting it out on print so you can have a copy handy at your house. You will be notified as soon as it is ready.

I have only covered the basics of the meeting in this letter and more will be coming soon!

Remember that you still can plan events for 2010. There are many time slots still open for that special event you might be thinking about!!!

Again, thanks to all those who attended ~
