Bob’s Gasoline Alley, Bliss Collection and St. James Winery Cuba , MO

Hosts: Rick & Loretta H

“Honey, don’t ever tell me again that I have too much stuff.” I heard this comment numerous times as the Vintage Vettes members toured the vast collections of Russell Bliss and Bob & Darlene Mullen’s Bobs Gasoline Alley on Saturday, May 22nd.

40 members driving 22 Corvettes participated in the drive to Cuba, MO and St. James, MO to view these collections.

The group first stopped in Fanning, MO to do some wine tasting and souvenir hunting at the Route 66 Outpost.  This site is also the home of the Guinness Book of World Records Largest Rocking Chair . Of course, we had to get a group photo (see above)

From there, one half mile east of Old Route 66, the group arrived at Bob’s Gasoline Alley at 11:30 AM and had quite a lunch served by Darlene and her able bodied friends/staff. We were allowed to wander around the grounds and buildings or opt for a personal tour of Bob’s large petroleum related items, pedal cars, cookie jars, die cast cars, antique clocks, neon clocks, and more.

We then headed for the St. James Winery to spend and hour or so tasting and sipping.   At 2:45 PM we headed to the Russell Bliss home where we were astounded by his vast and varied collection. He even provided a personal tour of his home.  We had great weather, great hosts and most importantly…  there’s no greater site than that of 22 Corvettes lined up on an exit ramp.

Thanks to all that attended.
