SPRINGFIELD, MO

October 2 - 5, 2008

Hosts: Ben & Mary Beth Whitacre

Beautiful weather welcomed representatives from 23 states to NW AR for the 18th Annual Eureka Springs Corvette Weekend.  Thursday started it all off with an Autocross in Berryville and ended in the evening with 4 seminars at the Inn of the Ozarks.  Corvette friends and fans gather at the convention center to renew old friendships and talk about their favorite subject -- Corvettes.  Gregg McNabb won 1st in the C6 Class.

Friday's Fuel Economy Run had a brand new look this year going West into previously unexplored country.  Beautiful scenery and best of all "NO RAIN".  The Historic/Camera Tour took participants to War Eagle Mill and ended at Turpentine Creek.

The rain waited 'til Saturday morning for the Owner's Choice Car Show.  Luckily, it was short-lived and awards began with Bobby Jo Lee of the NCM singing a few songs while ballots were tallied.  We are most honored to have her as she is a professional entertainer in Nashville and only sings at our show. Thank you Bobbie Jo.

A new Event this year was "Rides for Kids".  A school bus brought the 4th graders on a field trip to Pine Mountain for rides and each student received a Matchbox car and a lanyard that read "I Rode in a Corvette".  Even handicapped students were able to enjoy this Event.

The Poker Run had several stops including Roaring River and then ended at Turpentine Creek where our adopted Servals (Rescued from Willard) were on display.  Fans lined Highway 62 as the Parade of Champions showcased the winners of this year's Car Show.  Congratulations to Jim Cohen on his 2nd Place for the C1 Class.  Saturday p.m. the Club gathered at the Inn of the Ozarks to dine at Myrtie Mae's.

Sunday a.m. finished off the weekend with free drinks/donuts prior to a Departing Caravan headed by Bruce and Sandra Bell to the Dick Clark 57 Theatre/Museum in Branson.

Thanks to all registered entrants as the weekend benefits local charities and the NCM.  Next year's dates are October 1,2,3 and 4 ~   Ben & Mary Beth

Throughout its long and colorful history, Eureka Springs has been described as a land of glamour, health and scenic splendor.

What began as an oasis of healing nestled in a lush Ozark valley remains today a place recalling the elegance and pace of an earlier era. Reports of Basin Spring’s miraculous healing properties in the spring’s waters brought 10,000 people to live here by the spring of 1879.

The town's unusual name “Eureka”, from the Greek “I found it”, pays tribute to the curative nature of the area’s abundant spring waters.

We had 38 hungry Club members show-up for the delicious dinner.

~Thank you, Jerry, for treating us so well ~
