One of the most amazing aspects of an individual in our club that has “Corvette Fever” and wears the letters NCRS (National Corvette Restorers Society) with pride is that he always seems to have the correct NCRS answers. Then again if he doesn’t, he will find it. Have you wondered what the acronyms NOS,
NORS and NOM stand for? My suggestion is to ask Jim G. He calls himself the “Original
Freak” In 1976 Jim and his wife Carolyn G. found
their NCRS award winning 1969 Burgundy / black convertible (after six months of
hunting) in Hammond Indiana. At that time the car was in excellent condition! It
had never been driven in rain or snow after 1970. Some of the original parts had
been replaced with custom parts but most of the original parts were included
with the car. The interesting back story is the seller
had four cars and a wife that wanted a larger home.
To accomplish this, the seller had to part with one of his cars, which he
didn’t want to but found it necessary to satisfy the
MRS. He chose the Vette and his displeasure was very obvious during the
sale. Jim asked to drive the car and the owners comment was, “Only the owner
drives this car” and then said “I’ll take you for a ride” Jim is, still
to this day, good friends with this individual and occasionally will take HIM
for a ride reminding him of his original statement. It’s quite obvious when you talk with Jim
that he has a very special attachment to this car. He has had many offers to buy
or trade and Jim has gladly turned down each and every one of the offers.
This burgundy beauty has 57,000 original miles with a matching number 350/350 engine and a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. The wheels are stock rally’s with chrome beauty rings. It also has factory installed side pipes and Jim informed me that this was the only year in C3 production that they actually offered this as a factory option.

We were very pleased to get a score of 98.8%.
Now on to the National Convention in San Antonio in August.
Hope to complete the NCRS Duntov Award there."

Jim and Carolyn with the Bloomington Gold and Survivor Certificates they received on June 16, 2007. The best part of the awards ceremony was seeing several Vintage Vettes Members there to share the thrill. Jim thanks the several members of Vintage Vettes who have helped prepare the car. |

CONGRATULATIONS, JIM AND CAROLYN!
